Former First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has commissioned a newly constructed and fully equipped library for Achimota Primary School, a place she proudly describes as her alma mater.
The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday, November 26, 2025, was led through her charity initiative, The Rebecca Foundation, as part of efforts to promote literacy and enhance digital learning among young pupils.
Speaking at the ceremony, the former First Lady emphasized the importance of early education, reading culture and the need to prepare children for the growing digital world. She described the project as a deeply personal and meaningful opportunity to give back to the institution that played a role in shaping her academic foundation.

The modern library facility comes stocked with books and digital learning tools aimed at supporting both traditional literacy and technology-based education. School authorities and community members who witnessed the commissioning expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the new resource will significantly improve learning outcomes for pupils.
Since leaving office, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has remained active in educational and humanitarian projects, with her foundation focusing on child development, health, literacy and empowerment initiatives across the country.
The Achimota Primary School library project marks another milestone in her continued advocacy for youth education and capacity building in Ghana.
