Farmers’ Association Demands Apology from GRNMA Secretary Over “Derogatory” Remarks

The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) has strongly condemned comments made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen political programme.

According to GNAFF, Dr. Tenkorang Twum not only made “derogatory and unprintable” remarks about the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, but also launched an “unprovoked verbal attack” on Ghanaian farmers.

In an official statement, the farmers’ body expressed shock and disappointment, describing the comments as “highly disheartening, discourteous, and unacceptable.” GNAFF stressed that farmers and fishermen remain the backbone of Ghana’s economy, ensuring food security and driving national growth, and therefore deserve respect rather than ridicule.

The association has given Dr. Tenkorang Twum a 24-hour ultimatum to retract his comments and issue an unqualified apology to farmers and fishermen nationwide. Failure to do so, GNAFF warned, will compel the group to take “appropriate steps necessary to defend the dignity and integrity” of its members.

GNAFF also appealed to Ghanaians to continue respecting the sacrifices of farmers and fishermen, whom it described as the “lifeline of national development.”
