ECG Clarifies Disconnection of Believers Worship Centre Over GH¢308,741.16 Debt

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has explained the circumstances surrounding the recent disconnection of power supply to the Believers Worship Centre, led by Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah.

According to ECG, the church’s electricity supply was cut off on August 26, 2025, due to an accumulated outstanding bill of GH¢308,741.16. The company stressed that the action formed part of its standard operational procedures and was not intended to single out or inconvenience the church.

Following the disconnection, ECG’s Regional General Manager met with the church leadership to address their grievances. The Believers Worship Centre questioned the accuracy of their bills, citing their recent investment in solar energy.

In response, ECG dispatched a team of engineers to the premises to investigate. The findings, according to the company, confirmed that the bills accurately reflected actual consumption over the period. The church, which had already made partial payments, has since cleared the full outstanding balance.

ECG confirmed that power supply to the Believers Worship Centre has been restored, with both parties resolving the matter amicably.

The company expressed appreciation to Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah and the church leadership for their cooperation and emphasized its commitment to fairness, transparency, and respectful engagement with all customers. ECG also encouraged dialogue as a means of addressing billing concerns and avoiding future disputes.
