Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accompanied by leading officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Members of Parliament, and close friends, has paid a visit to the family of the late Ghanaian music legend, Daddy Lumba, to express his condolences and sign the book of condolence.
During the solemn visit to the late musician’s residence, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the profound impact Daddy Lumba had on Ghanaian society through his “deep and timeless songs,” describing his musical legacy as “immense and irreplaceable.”
Recognizing the icon’s lifelong contribution to the nation’s cultural identity and musical heritage, Dr. Bawumia made a passionate appeal for the state to honour Daddy Lumba with a state funeral, stating that such a tribute would be a fitting recognition of his service to Ghana.

“Lumba’s contributions to the nation through his deep and timeless songs are immense, and in recognition of his great service to the nation, I appealed for the state to honour him with a state funeral. May his soul rest in peace,” Dr. Bawumia said.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away recently, sending waves of grief across the nation. He is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest highlife musicians, with a career spanning decades and a catalogue that deeply influenced generations.
