Deputy Trade Minister Carlos Ahenkorah resigns after breaching COVID-19 protocols

Deputy Minister for Trade and Member of Parliament for Tema East, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has resigned from his post.

This decision comes following his admission to the breach of the COVID-19 protocols put in place by the President in a way to prevent the spread of the disease.

Mr Carlos Ahenkorah admitted in an interview to several radio stations in Accra, he visited registration centres despite his positive Covid-19 status.

Many have descended heavily on the MP since his admission many of which has come from social media, describing his behaviour as irresponsible.

After days of backlash from the public, the Tema East Member of Parliament has done needful by resigning from his position as the deputy trade minister of Ghana.

In a statement released on Friday morning, and signed by Director of Communications at the office of the President Eugene Arhin, President Akufo-Addo accepted his resignation and cautioned all his appointees to adhere to the protocols established by the Government to help defeat the covid-19.
