
The Greater Accra Regional Hospital, (RIDGE Hospital) as part of this year’s Customer Care Week celebrations, has recognised its clients and staff for their contributions to quality healthcare delivery.
The colourful event, which took place at the hospital’s premises in Accra, was observed on the theme: “Viewing Patients as Valued Customers and Not Just Medical Cases.”
Dr Issa Adam-Zakariah, the Ag. Medical Director of Ridge Hospital, speaking at the opening, commended staff for their continued commitment to compassionate and patient-centred care, a statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) has said.

In the statement, Dr Adam-Zakariah emphasized the importance of viewing patients as partners in the healing process rather than as mere recipients of medical treatment.
“Our patients are at the heart of what we do. Delivering quality care begins with empathy, respect, and professionalism,” he stated.
“This celebration reminds us that every patient deserves to be treated not only with medical expertise but also with dignity,” he said.
Ms Gifty Aryee, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services, highlighted the essential role of health workers and commended the nurses and midwives for their dedication to patient welfare and professional excellence.
The celebration saw activities such as customer engagement sessions, health education talks, and a staff awards ceremony to honour individuals who demonstrated outstanding dedication to customer service.
Five staff members, including Ms Rosenelly Parker Neizer-Gyenfie, Superintendent Community Health Nurse, Public Health (RCH), was awarded Best Customer Care Nurse for Public Health.
Ms Merrita Woamie, Principal Nursing Officer, received the award for Best Customer Service for ENT, and Ms Patricia Oforiwaa Boamah, Senior Nursing Officer, was honoured as Best Customer Care Nurse for Paediatrics.
Ms Selma Akuffo Kissiedu, was the Best Customer Care Service Nurse for Surgery, and Emma Nyatsikor, Best Customer Service Nurse for Labour ward.
Mrs Neizer-Gyenfie, in expressing her gratitude, described the recognition as a motivation to do even more for her patients.
“It’s fulfilling to know that the little acts of kindness we show our clients make a big difference. This award encourages me to keep serving with empathy and a smile,” she said.
Dr Yaa Dufoa Brako, the Head of Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, congratulated the awardees and highlighted the significance of maintaining high standards in healthcare delivery.
“Quality healthcare is not only about treatment outcomes but also about how patients experience care. Recognising our staff for their excellent service motivates others to uphold the same values,” she remarked.
The hospital’s management reiterated its commitment to continuous improvement through staff training, customer feedback mechanisms, and innovations that enhance patient satisfaction.
