COVID19: Ho Municipal Hospital records two cases; shuts OPD

The Ho Municipal Hospital has recorded two cases of the Coronavirus disease and has, as a result, shut down the hospital’s OPD and Emergency Unit.

Dr. Lawrence Kumi, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital confirmed this to the Ghana News Express on Thursday, stating that the two cases were identified through routine surveillance.

He added that the victims are currently being treated at the Volta Regional COVID19 isolation and treatment centre.

Dr. Kumi said the Out Patient Department (OPD) and the Emergency Unit of the Hospital have been shutdown for disinfection.

The OPD is expected to be opened on Saturday, May 23, 2020 but the Emergency Unit will remain shut until first week in June, he said.

The Medical Superintendent of the Ho Municipal Hospital indicated that some staff of the facility were asked to self-quarantine whilst they awaited test results.

This development has increased the total number of COVID 19 cases in the region to 45 with 28 recoveries and two deaths.
