Asantehene praises Afua Asantewaa for her exceptional courage 

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commended Ms Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a Ghanaian World Guinness Record hopeful, for her exceptional courage and perseverance in pushing the boundaries of Ghana’s musical influence on the global map.  He said Asantewaa’s perseverance to gain world recognition with Ghanaian music had received admiration from all people and needed to be acknowledged.  Otumfuo Osei Tutu gave the recommendation when Ms Asantewaa paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi.  The visit, which coincided with the first Awukudae celebration of Asanteman, was for the marathon singer to showcase her remarkable dedication, talent and appreciation to the Asantehene, for his gracious reception during her ambitious second attempt to set a Guinness...

GTA commissions redeveloped Pikworo Slave Camp 

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has commissioned the redeveloped Pikworo Heritage and Slave Camp at Nania near Paga in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region to attract tourists and boost the local economy.  The project comprises the construction of a periphery wall, frontage, summer huts, washrooms and administration block, which has a waiting area, reception, manager’s room and souvenirs display room.   The remaining work to be done includes fencing, a graveyard, and landscaping.   The redevelopment forms part of beautifying tourist sites across the country, particularly slave routes, being undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture through the GTA with funding from the Tourism Development Fund.
