BLACK WEDNESDAY: Nana Kwame Bediako Mourns Victims of Tragic Plane Crash in Heartfelt Statement

Ghana has been plunged into mourning following a devastating plane crash that claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from across the nation. Among those offering solemn words of comfort and reflection is Nana Kwame Bediako, Flagbearer of The New Force and former presidential candidate, who has issued a powerful condolence statement addressing the tragedy.

In what he described as a “Black Wednesday in the heart of Ghana,” Nana Kwame expressed deep sorrow over the loss, calling it a national tragedy that transcends political affiliations.

“Ghana has lost more than lives; we have lost leaders, servants, and patriots,” he wrote, mourning the deaths of the Minister of Defence, Chairman of the NDC, Minister of Environment, former Members of Parliament, and other public figures who perished in the crash.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to President John Dramani Mahama, acknowledging the immense personal and institutional loss suffered by the presidency.

“You have lost colleagues, comrades, and confidants. The nation has lost a generation of wisdom,” Bediako noted.

Stressing unity in the face of tragedy, the New Force leader reminded Ghanaians that the sorrow belongs to the entire country, not just one political party or administration.

“This tragedy is not partisan, it is national. It is not political, it is human.”

Nana Kwame’s statement called for introspection and transformation, urging the country to turn grief into action by strengthening protective systems for its leaders and citizens.

“As we lower our flags, let us raise our conscience… let us rise with a renewed commitment to protect, cherish, and honor the lives of those who serve our nation.”

He concluded his message with a prayerful appeal, asking God to console the bereaved, guide the nation, and ensure that the sacrifices of the fallen leaders serve as a beacon for unity, purpose, and progress.

The plane crash, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, has left the country reeling. The national flag has been ordered to fly at half-mast by President Mahama, as Ghanaians from all walks of life join in mourning one of the darkest days in recent history.

As the country reflects on this profound loss, the voices of unity and resilience — like that of Nana Kwame Bediako — continue to echo across the nation, offering hope in a time of heartbreak.
