Former Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, has firmly denied allegations of vote buying in the recently concluded National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
In a statement issued after a government communiqué announced his recall from the diplomatic post, Mr. Jamal stated categorically that he has not engaged in any vote buying or electoral malpractice. The recall directive, signed by the Presidential spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, referenced claims of inducement during the primaries and echoed a call by NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey for a full investigation into the matter.
Mr. Jamal pledged his full cooperation with any inquiry the party may undertake, stressing his willingness to assist investigators at any time to clarify the situation.

Despite the controversy, he expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve Ghana as High Commissioner to Nigeria, describing the appointment as an honour.
He also thanked members of the NDC in the Ayawaso East Constituency for the confidence shown in him, noting their support as he prepares to lead the party into the upcoming by-elections scheduled for March 3, 2026.
The NDC leadership has yet to announce further details regarding the investigation into the allegations.
