The Ashanti Regional Police Command has successfully secured the conviction and sentencing of three teenage armed robbers involved in a violent daylight robbery in the Boubai area of the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

The convicted individuals — Mamudu Issah, Samuel Takyi, and Alhassan Abubakari, all 18 years old — were arrested following a robbery incident that occurred on the morning of July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. According to police, the trio, in the company of three other accomplices who are still at large, attacked residents while riding two unregistered motorbikes and wielding machetes. The gang made away with mobile phones, cash, and personal belongings.
Thanks to the swift intervention of community volunteers, the suspects were tracked down and arrested later the same day at their hideout in Aboabo. The volunteers also recovered ten mobile phones and three bags believed to have been stolen during the robbery. The suspects were then handed over to the police.

On July 8, 2025, the accused were arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi. All three pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and seven counts of robbery. Mamudu Issah also pleaded guilty to an additional charge of causing harm.

The court sentenced Mamudu Issah to 10 years’ imprisonment on each robbery count and 3 years for causing harm, all to run concurrently. His accomplices, Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari, also received 10-year concurrent sentences for the robbery charges.
The convicts have since been transferred to the Central Prisons in Kumasi to begin serving their sentences.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, commended the public—particularly the community volunteers—for their vigilance and cooperation. He encouraged continued collaboration between the police and the public in the fight against crime.
“The success of this case reflects the power of community-police partnership,” DSP Ahianyo noted. “We urge the public to continue reporting suspicious activities to ensure the safety of our neighborhoods.”
