A 21-year-old mobile money (MoMo) vendor, Desmond Adzah, has tragically lost his life after being shot by suspected armed robbers at Quarters Junction, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality.
The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, as Desmond was returning home from work. According to reports by Adom News, he was ambushed by unknown gunmen who fired multiple shots at him. Though he was quickly rushed to the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic, he sadly died while receiving medical treatment.
An eyewitness, Ruben Kumor, recounted that he had spoken to Desmond just minutes before the shooting.

“Desmond is well-known around here. I had asked him to withdraw GHC150, but he told me he was out of cash. Shortly after, I heard gunshots and someone came shouting that Desmond had been shot,” he narrated.
Despite the presence of a police station in the vicinity, Kumor expressed concern about the absence of night patrols in the area.
“We hardly see patrols around here. Even community police could help deter such incidents. This happened right after businesses closed for the day. We need better security,” he emphasized.
Desmond’s sister, Erica Adzah, believes the killing was not a random act but a targeted attack.
“He was followed and probably recognized his attackers. After shooting him, they took his bag. I think they killed him because he saw their faces,” she alleged.
She further revealed that Desmond tried to run toward their home nearby, seeking refuge. However, the family was too frightened by the sound of gunfire to come to his aid.
The grieving family is calling for a thorough police investigation and swift action from government authorities to address the increasing spate of motorbike-assisted robberies.
“These motorbike crimes are getting out of hand. We need urgent steps from the authorities to protect lives,” Erica appealed.
Residents of Quarters Junction are also demanding intensified police patrols and a committed effort to arrest those responsible for the killing.
