The family of the late Ghanaian highlife icon Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, is calling for a thorough and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death in Ghana on July 26, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Family Secretary on behalf of Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh (widow) and Ms. Ernestina Fosuh (elder sister of the deceased), the family expressed deep concern over what they describe as “conflicting and inconsistent accounts” of the events leading to Mr. Fosuh’s passing.
According to the family, three different narratives have emerged:

- Eyewitness Account:
An eyewitness claimed that on the night of the incident, Mr. Fosuh called a friend to visit him. Upon arriving, the friend was reportedly prevented from seeing him by a woman living with the late musician. After waiting nearly two hours, the friend left but later received a call informing him that Mr. Fosuh had died at home. - Police and Coroner’s Report:
A report submitted by the Ghana Police Service to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra indicated that Mr. Fosuh, a known diabetic, had complained of pain in his legs and waist on July 24, 2025. He was taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan, during which he was placed under anaesthesia due to agitation. After the procedure, he reportedly developed severe pain and was transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he passed away two days later. - Account by Ms. Priscilla O.:
Ms. Priscilla O., who was reportedly residing with Mr. Fosuh, initially told the family that he had died at the Bank Hospital after receiving an injection that caused severe pain. However, in a subsequent conversation with a family member, she allegedly contradicted herself by claiming that Mr. Fosuh had actually died at home, and that she had personally cleaned and dressed his body before calling a friend, identified as Ms. Serwaa A., to assist in transporting him to the hospital.
The family noted that Ms. Priscilla O. has since declined to provide further details, leaving critical questions unanswered.
The family stated that these contradictory accounts have created confusion and deep distress, prompting them to request an independent inquiry into the true cause of death.
In pursuit of clarity and justice, the Fosuh family has formally contacted the following authorities:
- The German Embassy in Accra, Ghana
- The Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) in Wiesbaden, Germany
- The German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin
Additionally, the family is urging the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to invite Ms. Priscilla O. and Mr. Philip Kwabena A., also known as Roman Fada, for questioning to assist in uncovering the facts surrounding the musician’s death.
According to the family’s statement, all relevant documents — including medical reports, official correspondence, and a confirmation from Transition Funeral Home regarding the handling of the remains — have been submitted to the respective authorities to support ongoing investigations.
“We, the family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, loved him dearly and are devastated by the unclear and conflicting reports surrounding his death,” the statement read.
“We have confidence that both the German and Ghanaian authorities will work together to uncover the truth, ensure justice, and bring transparency to this painful situation.”
Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, aged 60, was a German citizen of Ghanaian origin and one of the most celebrated figures in Ghana’s highlife music history. His passing has drawn widespread grief and attention both in Ghana and among the Ghanaian diaspora.
The family says it remains committed to pursuing answers through proper legal and diplomatic channels to honour his legacy and ensure that due process is followed.
