Spanish La Liga side Villarreal CF have announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 32-year-old will join his new teammates at the club’s training ground tomorrow.
Partey, born on June 13, 1993, in Krobo Odumase, is widely regarded as a complete midfielder with exceptional stamina, ball-winning ability, and the skill to initiate attacking moves from deep. Known for his powerful mid-range shots and ability to break defensive lines, he brings a wealth of experience to the Yellow Submarine.
The Black Stars vice-captain has earned over 50 caps for Ghana and enjoyed a successful club career across Europe. He has previously played for Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, UD Almería, and RCD Mallorca. His honours include the FA Community Shield (2023/24) with Arsenal, as well as the La Liga title (2020/21), UEFA Super Cup (2018/19), and UEFA Europa League (2017/18) during his time with Atlético Madrid.

However, Villarreal also acknowledged that Partey is currently involved in an ongoing legal case in England. The club stated that the player maintains his innocence and denies all charges. Emphasising the principle of presumption of innocence, Villarreal said it will await the outcome of the judicial process and will not comment further due to legal restrictions.
In their statement, Villarreal CF reiterated their commitment to respect, diversity, and the fight against all forms of violence and discrimination, including gender-based violence, racism, xenophobia, and behaviours that undermine human dignity.
Partey’s move marks a significant signing for Villarreal as they prepare for the upcoming season, with fans eager to see the experienced midfielder bring his talent and leadership to the Estadio de la Cerámica.
