Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang Bids Farewell to Outgoing Namibian High Commissioner

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on Thursday hosted a farewell meeting in Accra for the outgoing Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana, Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, who has been appointed as Namibia’s new Minister for International Relations and Trade.

The Vice President praised Hon. Ashipala-Musavyi for her dedicated service and congratulated her on the new ministerial appointment, expressing confidence in her ability to continue strengthening Namibia’s global diplomatic engagement.

During their meeting, Hon. Ashipala-Musavyi conveyed warm greetings from the President of Namibia, Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. Both leaders reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Ghana and Namibia, underscoring their shared commitment to cooperation within the West African and Southern African regions.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang fondly recalled her two visits to Namibia, describing them as memorable experiences that reflected the deepening ties between the two nations.

The discussion also focused on economic collaboration, particularly through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The two leaders emphasized the need for African nations to harness their collective strengths, exchange knowledge, and add value to local products as a means of advancing intra-African trade and development.

Highlighting the role of women in leadership, they reflected on the importance of solidarity and mutual support among women leaders in driving inclusive national and continental agendas.

“I wish Hon. Ashipala-Musavyi a safe journey and every success as she returns home to take up her new role in service of her country,” the Vice President stated.

The meeting concluded on a note of shared optimism for the future of Ghana-Namibia relations and the continued advancement of Africa’s integration and development goals.
