The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the violent clashes that erupted at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The incident left three people dead and several others injured.
According to a police statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the suspects—35-year-old private security officer Christian Saka Ahianyevi and 26-year-old dispatch rider Newton Alotey—were arrested on August 30 and 31, respectively.
Police say intelligence-led operations conducted by a joint team from the Accra Regional Police Command and the Special Support Unit from the National Headquarters led to the arrests.

During the operation, officers retrieved 18 spent BB cartridges from Newton Alotey. Christian Saka Ahianyevi was also found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits, all of which have been secured by police as evidence.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, security presence has been intensified within the affected communities to prevent further disturbances.
The Accra Regional Police Command is urging all factions and residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. Authorities have also appealed to the public to provide credible information on the whereabouts of other suspects still at large by contacting the police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
