Thousands Gather at Independence Square for Candlelight Vigil Honouring Daddy Lumba

Thousands of Ghanaians filled Independence Square in Accra last Saturday night to honour the life and legacy of the late highlife icon, Daddy Lumba, in a moving candlelight vigil that paid tribute to his unparalleled contribution to Ghanaian music.

Clad in black mourning attire with red headbands, mourners illuminated the square with glowing candles, creating a solemn yet celebratory atmosphere that reflected on a musical career spanning more than three decades.

Highlife legend Bessa Simons, who also serves as President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs, were among the dignitaries present.
