1,584 candidates registered for 2025 BECE in Effutu Municipality

A total of 1,584 candidates, including 806 females are expected to write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which will commence on Wednesday June 11, 2025, at five centres in Effutu Municipality. They are from 57 schools, comprising 24 public and 33 private schools in the municipality. Mr John Ntisful, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Effutu Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), told the GNA in an interview that 921 candidates are expected to write French, while   1,583 will participate in the ICT. POLICE ARREST ONE SUSPECT FOR THE MURDER OF A LECTURER IN THE CENTRAL REGION

The Central Regional Police Command has today, 22d May, 2025 arrested suspect, Joshua Karry Arthur in connection with the murder of a Senior Lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba, at Essuokyir in the Central Region. The deceased lecturer had been reported missing on 21s May, 2025 by his colleagues who had indicated to Police that all efforts to reach him had yielded no response. Police proceeded to the residence of the deceased, where the suspect was found and arrested. Police also discovered some blood stains which were traced to a heap of sand about 23 metres from the house. Cholera Outbreak: Cape Coast, Winneba to commemorate Independence with self-protest against poor sanitation   

Mr Ekow Panyin Eduamoah, Central Regional Minister, has announced that Cape Coast and Winneba will commemorate this year’s Independence Day with a march against poor sanitation.    He said in addition to massive clean-up exercises in the two cities, the people would embark on a protest against bad behavioural practices in an effort to promote healthy sanitation practices.    The move is a practical measure to fight the cholera outbreak in the two coastal cities.    It is also in response to government’s moderate celebration of this year’s Independence Day.    The Minister made the announcement when he visited some communities in Cape Coast to assess the sanitation situation in the wake of the outbreak.    The Minist...

Kasoa-Winneba Road Dualization to Be Extended to Cape Coast 

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the government will extend the Kasoa-Winneba Road dualisation project to Cape Coast.  The former Minister of Roads and Highways had earlier performed the sod-cutting ceremony to commence the $180 million dual carriageway project along the Kasoa-Winneba highway.   The 30-kilometer road was expected to ease traffic congestion, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and boost trade.  Speaking in Cape Coast during his thank-you visit to the Central Region, President Mahama affirmed plans to extend the project to Cape Coast.  “While phase one is ongoing, phase two and phase three will be packaged and funded under our Big Push programme,” the President said.  “The second phase of this project will be...
