Police in the Walewale District of the North East Region have arrested a 25-year-old man, Rafai Tahiru, for possession of an offensive weapon and for allegedly assaulting a man in connection with a stolen mobile phone incident. According to a police report, the suspect and two accomplices, who are currently on the run, accused the victim of stealing a mobile phone belonging to Rafai Tahiru. On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the trio allegedly tied the victim’s hands and legs with ropes, placed him in a tricycle, and subjected him to severe beatings with canes. Two Arrested in Walewale for Stealing Immigration Officer’s Pistol and Ammunition

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of two young men in Walewale for stealing a pistol and ammunition belonging to an Immigration officer. According to a press release issued by the Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service in Nalerigu, the suspects, identified as Mohammed Basit (18 years old) and Baba Rasid (22 years old), broke into the officer’s room on Saturday, May 17, 2025, around 12:00pm while he was away. The suspects allegedly made away with a Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, along with two CZ rifle magazines, each containing 30 rounds.
