Upper West Regional Police Secure 7-Year Jail Term for Child Defilement Offender

The Upper West Regional Police Command has secured a significant victory in the fight against child abuse, following the conviction of a 31-year-old man for defilement by the Wa Circuit Court. The convicted individual, Issahaku Waris, a resident of Wa Zongo, was found guilty of defiling a 5-year-old girl on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The court, presided over by His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo, sentenced Waris to seven (7) years imprisonment on Friday, July 18, 2025. Court Jails Man 15 Years for Motorbike Robbery in Upper West Region

The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced a 20-year-old man, Nawaf Abdulai, to 15 years imprisonment for his involvement in a series of motorbike robberies in the Upper West Region. According to a police statement, the suspect, together with an accomplice, Awal Abass—who is currently at large—robbed two victims of their Haojue and Luojia motorbikes bearing registration numbers M-21-449 UW and M-17-4607 UW, respectively. The robbery occurred on March 6, 2025. In a swift response, the Upper West Regional Police Command arrested Nawaf Abdulai at his residence on March 8, 2025. During interrogation, Abdulai admitted to the crime. The case was subsequently prosecuted in court. Two Arrested for Motorbike Robbery in Upper West Region

The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with a string of motorbike thefts and robberies in the Wa Metropolis. The suspects, identified as Abdulai Ibrahim, 34, and Kipo Ibrahim, 36, were apprehended following intelligence-led operations in the Danko and Napogbakole areas. Both had been on the police wanted list for their alleged involvement in multiple robbery incidents targeting motorbike owners in the region. A search conducted at their hideout resulted in the recovery of seven (7) stolen motorbikes along with three (3) number plates bearing registration numbers M-24-UW 4134, M-21-UW 6468, and M-20-UW 2846.
