One feared dead, others injured after bus runs over traders at COCOBOD area

One person is feared dead with several others injured after an Ayalolo bus ran over some traders at the COCOBOD area, in the Central Business District of Accra, on Monday. The incident was said to have occurred at about 1530 hours. Nii Okine Aryee, an eyewitness, told the Ghana News Agency, that the accident occurred when the bus, with registered number: GT 5493–17, allegedly lost control. In the process, he said, the bus went over the pavement where many traders were still busily trading. Mayor of Accra engages street hawkers ahead of Tuesday’s major decongestion exercise — vows cleaner city, fairer market policies under 24-hour economy plan

The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has directly engaged street hawkers in parts of the Central Business District (CBD) today, ahead of a major decongestion exercise slated to begin on Tuesday, May 20. Mayor Kpakpo Allotey, who was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, on Saturday, walked through key areas in the metropolis to appeal for cooperation and explain new citywide trading reforms.
