Over 3,000 candidates to write 2025 BECE in Tema Metro

A total of 3,820 registered candidates are to sit for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Tema Metropolis. The 2025, unlike previous years, is expected to commence on a Wednesday, June 11, 2025, a shift from the usual Monday start. Mrs Bernice Ofori, the Tema Metro Education Director, told the GNA that all preparations had been put in place to ensure a successful, incident-free BECE. Mrs Ofori noted that the 3,820 registered candidates comprised 2,345 public school candidates and 1,475 are from private basic schools within the metropolis. A total of 1,974 girls and 1,846 boys will sit for the exams at 14 designated centres. TMA engages stakeholders on 2026/2029 medium-term development plan

The Planning Directorate of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has engaged stakeholders in the evaluation, planning, and preparation of the medium-term development plan for the metropolis. The Assembly, which is a planning authority, ensures that every four years it prepares the medium-term development plan that seeks to guide it in developing the metropolis. Mr Samuel Larweh, the Tema Metro Planning Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that the medium-term development plan was the blueprint for the development of the metropolis within the next four years, for engaging community stakeholders to get the needs assessment which was the current state of the communities.
