Sunyani Zongo dumpsite breeding grounds for criminal activities-‘Adolescent Parliament’

The Sunyani Municipal ‘Adolescent Parliament’ has bemoaned the state of the Sunyani ‘Zongo dumpsite’ describing the site popularly known as the ‘Zongo Borla’, as a hub and breeding grounds for criminal activities in the Bono Regional capital. “The site is notorious for open defecation, drug use, and criminal activities, particularly theft”, Master Daniel Sarkodie-Frimpong, the ‘Speaker’ of the Parliament sated, worrying that “over 80 percent of reported theft cases in Sunyani occur in or around area, with many adolescents both involved in and victimized by these crimes”. Police Arrest Another Suspect in Violent Disturbances During Nsoatreman FC vs. Asante Kotoko Match

In relation to the violent incidents that broke out during the February 2, 2025, football game between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, the Ghana Police Service has detained an additional suspect. The suspect was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation and was identified as Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwaa, also known as Akosua Black Chinese. Six individuals have been detained in connection with the event after her detention. As the police continue their efforts to capture everyone responsible for the disruptions, Ntiriwaa is now helping with investigations, they said. Stakeholders unhappy about pre-marital sex, surge in teenage pregnancy in Sunyani

A total of 124 applicants vie for MMDCE in Bono Region

A total of 124 people are vying for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) positions in the 12 politically administrative areas in the Bono Region,    Mr Dennis Yeboah Twumasi, the Bono Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said on Monday.  In a breakdown, he said 10 applicants had applied for the position as the Sunyani mayor, 21 applicants for Sunyani West MCE, seven applicants for the Dormaa West DCE and eight applicants for the Dormaa Central MCE.  In an interview with the GNA in Sunyani, Mr Twumasi said seven people had also applied for the Dormaa East DCE position, nine for the Berekum East MCE, and 10 applicants for the Berekum West DCE positions.  He said 15 applicants had also submitted their details for the Ja...

Jubilant supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) thronged the Bono Regional Office of the party to observe the live-telecast of the swearing-in of the President-elect John Dramani Mahama and his Vice Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang amid sporadic sparking of firecrackers. The Regional executives of the party had earlier mounted a television set at the premises of the party office in Sunyani to enable the party supporters and members and a section of the public to watch the live telecast from the Black Star Square in Accra. Police arrest eight suspects for attacking Metro Mass Transit workshop 

The Police have arrested eight suspects in connection with an attack on the Metro Mass Transit workshop in Sunyani, Bono Region. The suspects, identified as Issakah Taugfic, Abudu Isaiah, Abdul Latif Mohammed, Mohammad Azandoro, Alhassan Issah, Amadu Mohammad, Abdulai Adams, and Abdulai Ibrahim, reportedly unlawfully entered the workshop premises on Monday, attacked and threatened workers, forcing them to leave their offices.
