Government Begins Evacuation of Students in Bawku, Nalerigu Amid Curfew
The Government of Ghana has announced the commencement of a coordinated evacuation of students from educational institutions in Bawku, Nalerigu, and surrounding areas, following the imposition of a curfew to curb ongoing tensions in the region.
This decision was communicated shortly after the Ministry of the Interior imposed a curfew in the affected areas, effective from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting Sunday, 27th July 2025, and lasting until further notice.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President, the curfew is not only a security measure to maintain peace but also a critical step toward ensuring the safe evacuation of students, some of whom have reportedly been targeted in the conflict.
