GES Distributes Over 6.6 Million Sanitary Pads to School Girls Nationwide as Ghana Marks International Day of the Girl Child
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the nationwide distribution of 6,607,095 sanitary pads to school girls across all 16 regions as part of efforts to promote menstrual hygiene and ensure uninterrupted education for adolescent girls.
The initiative coincides with the global commemoration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, which is being observed under the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.” The day serves as an important reminder of the need to protect, empower, and invest in the development of girls across the world, especially in the area of education and health.
