Man remanded over police vehicle theft

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded into police custody Eric Afful for allegedly stealing a vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service. Afful, a driver, is said to have stolen the Toyota Hilux Pick-up, valued at GHC300,000, on August 19, 2025, at Ashalley Botwe in Accra. He was assisted by one Acquah, currently at large. The accused person was arrested when a Police Force Driving Logbook was found in the vehicle.  Afful and Acquah have been jointly charged with conspiracy to commit crime and stealing. Afful is facing an additional charge of stealing. He informed the court, presided over by Basilia Adjei Tawiah, that his counsel would be in court at the next court sitting. Preacher remanded over alleged incest and assault

A 40-year-old preacher, Godwin Asher, has been remanded into police custody by the Kwabenya Circuit Court for alleged incest and causing harm to his biological daughter. Asher, a mason, pleaded not guilty to both charges. His counsel, Mr. Godfred Anim Darko, argued that the accusation stemmed from disciplinary action taken against the 17-year-old victim, who had allegedly stayed away from home for several days. Anim Darko told the court that the facts presented by the prosecution were completely different from what his client had told him. Woman remanded over stealing Ghc800,000 mistakenly transferred to her account

A trader, Constance Gyasi Nimako, has been remanded into lawful custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing and laundering money mistakenly credited to her bank account. Nimako, also known as Maa Adwoa, is alleged to have spent GH¢770,500 out of GH¢800,000 that was erroneously transferred to her Ecobank account. She reportedly transferred GH¢300,000 to her mother’s account at Fidelity Bank and GH¢400,000 to her own account at GCB Bank, and withdrew GH¢70,500 in cash. She has been charged with stealing and money laundering, while her mother, Cecilia Gyasi, has been charged with abetment of crime to wit money laundering. The two pleaded not guilty. A Pastor, aged 48 years, has been remanded into Police custody by the Asante Akropong circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, for publishing falsehood at Achiase against the founder of Philadelphia church. Three ladies with concealed methamphetamine in suitcases remanded

An Accra High Court has remanded into lawful custody two South Africans and a Nigerian accused of possessing over 16 kg of methamphetamine, a narcotic drug. This follows their arrest at the Kotoka International Airport on January 20, 2025, by officials of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). The accused persons (names withheld) are alleged to have concealed the drugs in two suitcases. The Court presided over by Justice Mrs Kizita Koowa Quarshie remanded the accused, all females, to reappear on February 11, 2025.
