Ghana Health Service Responds to Surge in Typhoid Fever Cases in Oti Region

The Ghana Health Service (GHS), in collaboration with the Oti Regional Coordinating Council and under the leadership of the Ministry of Health, has stepped up efforts to contain a reported surge in Typhoid Fever cases in parts of the Oti Region. According to health officials, the outbreak has been recorded particularly in the Biakoye, Krachi East, Krachi West, and Krachi Nchumuru Districts. In response, the Ministry of Health has deployed the National Case Management Rapid Response Team to support the regional health team in assessing and managing the situation. Two men jailed for defilement in Oti Region

Two individuals, Joseph Boateng, alias Small pepper, 37, and Hashiru Zurukanini, alias Scare them, 27, have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment each for defilement and abetment of defilement, respectively. This is contained in a release signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. John Nchor of Public Affairs Units of the Oti Regional Command. The convicts were arraigned before the Jasikan Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Lambert Yinigabague Keriba. According to the Prosecution, the suspects were arrested on May 22, 2025, after they lured a 15-year-old girl to the house of Boateng at Kadjebi Cocoa Market with a promise of giving her GH¢2,000 for a charm.
