Nursing and Midwifery Council Warns Student Nurses and Practitioners Over Unprofessional Social Media Conduct

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC) of Ghana has expressed grave concern over the increasing trend of unprofessional behavior among student nurses, midwives, and practitioners on various social media platforms. In a statement issued by the Council, it noted that several disturbing videos and online publications have surfaced involving trainees, nurse assistants, and practicing nurses engaging in conduct that violates the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct governing the profession. DCE pledges motivational packages for nurses and midwives  

Mr Stephen Aeke Akurugo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena-Nankana West District, has pledged to establish motivational packages for nurses and midwives in the area.   He said the District Assembly would collaborate with the Member of Parliament for the area and leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) to establish the packages.   The DCE, who is a nurse by profession, said the initiative would motivate and encourage nurses and midwives to stay and work to improve healthcare delivery in the district.   Mr Akurugo made the pledge when the leadership of the GRNMA in the District called on him to formally congratulate him on his appointment.   The DCE further disclosed plans by the Assembly to offer s...

Government must urgently resolve the nurses and midwives strike to save lives – CSOs

Civil society organisations (CSOs) in health has called on the government to urgently resolve the nurses and midwives nationwide strike to save lives. The organisations are Ghana NCD Alliance (GhNCDA), the Vision for Accelerated Sustainable Development, Ghana (VAST-Ghana), Stroke Association Support Network, among others. The CSOs in a joint statement signed by Mr Labram Musah, the National Coordinator of GhNCDA, and the Executive Director of VAST-Ghana said as the strike entered its second week, attention must be drawn to the growing humanitarian and public health crisis the action was causing. Nurses and midwives urged to stay curious, proactive, and adaptable

Student nurses and midwives have been advised to remain curious, proactive, and adaptable as they pursue their professional courses. They have also been urged to approach their studies with a mindset of lifelong learning. Dr. Atta Yeboah-Sarpong, Acting Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), gave the advice during the matriculation ceremony for 734 students at the Ghana Armed Forces College of Nursing and Midwifery (GAFCONM) held at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. Thirteen nurses in Upper East vacated post in 2024- Director

Ghana Health Service honours 15 staff, nine facilities in Bolgatanga

The Management of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Bolgatanga Municipality, has awarded 15 health professionals, nine facilities and three sub-municipal zones for their contributions to healthcare delivery.
