Flood, fire disasters devastate 4,636 residents in Central Region; NADMO rallies support for victims

NADMO urges public to stay indoors during rains

Mrs Fati Kine-Lam, the Bono Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has urged the public to always stay indoors whenever the rains set-in. She said it was risky to find shelter at fuel and gas pumps and under trees, saying, the rains would always be accompanied by heavy storms in the season. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, Mrs Kine-Lam said in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, 976 persons, including children were displaced by the rains in the region. She said two basic schools in the Jaman North District of the region were worst affected, displacing 190 school children in 2023, adding that in 2024 other two schools and 99 houses were affected by the rains in the Tain District. Tidal waves displace 519 people in Ketu South – NADMO 

A total of 519 people from 101 households in three communities of the Ketu South Municipality have been displaced by devastating tidal waves, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has confirmed.    According to NADMO, the hardest-hit community is Agavedzi, where 21 households have been completely destroyed, affecting 129 residents.   Other affected communities include Salakope, with 31 households and 172 residents displaced; and Amutinu, where 49 households were partially affected, impacting 318 people.    Mr. Pascal Agbagba, the Volta Regional Director of Operations at NADMO, disclosed these figures during a crisis meeting attended at the Ketu South Municipal Assembly at Tokor on Friday, February 28, 2025.  The meeting was attended...
