Labourer remanded for stealing mobile phone

A 24-year-old labourer has been remanded into prison custody by the Asante Abuakwa circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality for stealing five mobile phones at Asakraka, near Abuakwa. James Mensah pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing and will reappear before the court, presided by Mr Jephthah Appau, on October 03, this year. Police Chief Inspector Evans Ayimbisa, prosecuting told the court that, the complainants, Richard Opoku, Francis Mensah, John Bonayaa and William Yenkyeibe, were small scale miners residing at Asakraka, while the suspect was a labourer residing at a cottage, near their mining site. Two arrested for illegally tampering with mobile phones in Wassa Akropong

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with the illegal tampering of mobile phones belonging to a credit sales company at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region. The suspects, Machiavelli Arthur and Gideon Ebenezer—both phone repairers operating in the area—were picked up on June 19, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation by the Police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been using laptops and other electronic tools to unlock, bypass, and flash mobile phones sold on credit. Their actions enabled customers who defaulted on payment to continue using the devices without settling their debts.
