Minority Slams Government Over “Sakawa” Cocoa Price, Accuses Leaders of Betraying Farmers

The Minority Caucus Committee on Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs has launched a scathing attack on the government following the announcement of the producer price of cocoa for the 2025/2026 season, describing it as a “stab in the back” of hardworking Ghanaian cocoa farmers. In a press conference held this morning, members of the Minority expressed outrage over what they called a “ridiculously low” farm gate price of GH¢1,228.75 per 64kg bag, recently announced by the government. The new price represents a mere 4.2% increase over the current price of GH¢1,180.00, a move the Minority described as deeply disappointing and unfair to cocoa farmers. “Our hardworking farmers deserve better than this ‘Sakawa’ price,” the Minority fumed. Unfulfilled Promises and Broken Trust The Mi...

NPP poised for comeback – Afenyo-Markin

Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has only stumbled, not been defeated, and is preparing for a strong comeback. Minority Caucus Condemns Acts of Lawlessness in Ablekuma North Rerun Election

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has strongly condemned a series of violent incidents and disruptions that marred the parliamentary rerun election in the Ablekuma North Constituency today. The rerun, held across 19 polling stations, was called following months of disputes stemming from the December 2024 General Elections. In a press statement signed by Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Caucus expressed grave concern over what it described as a pattern of lawlessness orchestrated by operatives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), allegedly led by Malik Basintale, Deputy National Communications Officer, and Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary. The statement cited several incidents captured on video, which purportedly show NDC officials incitin...
