Walewale curfew: 2 injured, shops vandalised in alleged military brutality at Gbimsi
One individual has suffered a broken wrist and another has been left with a swollen eye after military personnel allegedly brutalised them at Gbimsi, near Walewale in the North East Region.
The incident occurred as the military enforced a curfew in the area.
The victims have since been treated and discharged. This brings the total number of alleged military brutality incidents to 10 in the past week since the curfew was imposed.
Dr Tia Mahama Kabiru, the Member of Parliament for the area, condemned the military’s actions after visiting the victims and reiterated his call to the Ministry of the Interior to lift the curfew and offer respite to his constituents urgently.
