Eight Charged for Violence During Ablekuma North Re-Run Election

The Accra Regional Police Command has announced that eight individuals have been arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court in connection with violent incidents that marred the Ablekuma North Parliamentary re-run election held on Friday, 11th July 2025. The accused persons have been identified as Mohammed Abubakari, 32, a private security officer; Tijani Mahamudu, 38, a driver; Prince Dzakpasu, 39, a businessman; Anas Mohammed, 42, an estate developer; Mohammed Hamda, 35, a mechanic; Darko Otibu Samuel, 33, a businessman; Musah Muntari, 46, a station manager; and Ali Saeed alias Bomba, 43, a businessman. Kasoa NDC executives criticise MP over alleged disregard of constituency executives  

There is growing tension in the Awutu Senya East Constituency among members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over appointment allocations.  Amid the tension, party members had warned that the NDC risks the parliamentary seat for only one term if matters were not addressed.  Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency, Mrs. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has been accused of sidelining constituency executives in decision-making, employing divide-and-rule tactics, disregarding party structures, and misallocating appointment slots.  A major grievance was the alleged diversion of appointment slots intended for deserving constituency executives to the MP’s favourites.  At a press conference, the Constituency Organizer, Mr. Daniel Takyi Mensah, said those affected in...
