Suspect remanded over immigration officer’s murder

Bright Aweh has appeared before the Kaneshie District Court over the alleged murder of Ghana Immigration Service officer, Stephen King Amoah. Aweh, also known as Robert or Highest Bright, faces a provisional charge of murder. His plea was not taken, and he was remanded into police custody to reappear on August 8, 2025. Chief Inspector Apewa Achana, leading the prosecution, requested the remand to allow for further investigations. Mr. Amoah went missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estates. His charred body was discovered days later in a drain at Aboum Junction near Kwabenya. One Arrested in Connection with Murder of Immigration Officer in Accra

The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the brutal murder of Stephen King Amoah, an Immigration Officer who was reported missing on July 4, 2025. According to a police statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the officer’s burnt body was discovered on the morning of July 9 in a gutter near the GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate, Accra. The remains were immediately conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue for further investigation. Despite the body being severely burnt, the deceased was positively identified by six relatives, who accompanied investigators from the Taifa Police to the morgue.
