Government Establishes Children’s Support Fund for Victims of August 6 Tragedy

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the creation of a Children’s Support Fund to secure the welfare and future of children left behind by the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash. The announcement was made on Friday, August 15, 2025, during a national address. The Fund, according to the Presidency, has already accrued GHS 2,315,000.00 in donations. Government expressed deep appreciation to Stanbic Bank Ghana, which made an initial seed contribution of GHS 500,000.00, as well as to several corporate organizations whose generosity has boosted the Fund. Ashanti Regional Minister Urges Return of Items Taken from Helicopter Crash Site

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has issued a stern appeal to residents who may have taken parts of the helicopter or personal belongings from the site of Wednesday’s tragic crash to return them immediately. According to intelligence gathered by the ARCC, some individuals who were among the first to arrive at the crash site on August 6, 2025, collected various items, including pieces of the aircraft and personal effects. The Council is warning that all such items, no matter how small — from metals and screws to drives and boards — must be handed back without delay. Regional Minister Hon.
