GJA president hails 2025 elections as “smoothest process ever” 

Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has described the ongoing GJA elections as the “smoothest process ever,” expressing deep satisfaction with its conduct.  Speaking at the International Press Centre polling station, where 78 out of 303 expected voters had cast their ballots by late morning, he praised the peaceful nature of the election.  “This has been the smoothest or the most smoothest process ever,” he stated, drawing a contrast between the 2025 polls and past elections.  Mr. Dwumfour, who served as GJA president from 2023 to 2025, is seeking re-election and faces a challenge from Mr. Charls Yao Mawusi, a media trainer.  Reflecting on his past involvement in GJA elections in 2017 and 2022, he noted significant i...

GJA 2025 Elections: Full list of candidates released

The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Wednesday released the full list of candidates approved to contest the GJA Elections on June 30, 2025. A total of 13 national candidates and 49 regional candidates were approved by the Elections Committee to contest various leadership positions within the Association. A statement signed by Mr Peter Martey Agbeko, the Elections Committee chairman, said nominations for the vice chairperson position in the Volta Region remained open until 1700 hours on Monday, June 17, 2025. GJA opens nominations for 2025 Executive Elections 

The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the opening of nominations for the Association’s 2025 National and Regional Executive Elections, scheduled to take place on Monday, June 30, 2025.  According to the Committee, the nomination period opens today, Friday, May 16, and will close on Friday, May 30, 2025.   The announcement marks a significant milestone in the Association’s democratic calendar.  The statement was signed by Mr Peter Martey Agbeko, Chairman of the Elections Committee.
