Ohempon Dr. Asiamah renovates abandoned old-age building for Atebubu GIS 

Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area, has renovated an abandoned Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) building at the old Atebubu Water Works in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality.  The refurbished facility will now serve as the permanent office of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the Bono East Region.  Mr. Michael Osei, General Manager of the Atebubu Stool Lands Secretariat, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the building had been re-allocated and documented as the official GIS office.  He said the Paramount Chief undertook the renovation after an appeal from GIS personnel in the area, explaining that the facility would enhance the administrative efficiency of the service.  “The gesture reflects the Paramount Chief’s c...

Unrest at Hamile Border Post Brought Under Control – GIS

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed that disturbances which broke out at the Hamile Border Post in the Upper West Region on Saturday evening have been brought under control. According to a statement issued by the Service, the incident, which occurred on September 13, 2025, involved some members of the local community and led to tensions at the border area. Management of the GIS assured the public, particularly residents of Hamile, that calm has since been restored with the support of other relevant security agencies. The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, has directed a full-scale investigation into the circumstances leading to the unrest. Ghana Immigration Service gets new office Accommodation

The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has commissioned a new office accommodation for Ghana Immigration Service at Kwahu Aduamoa in the Eastern Region, donated by the chiefs and people of the town. In his address, Hon. Okletey Terlabi expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Aduamoah, particularly Nana Ahea Tutu Brempong, the Chief of Aduamoa, for partnering with the Ghana Immigration Service to construct the office building.
