Ghana Bar Association Mourns Victims of August 6 Helicopter Crash

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has joined the nation in mourning the eight Ghanaians who tragically lost their lives in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash while en route to Obuasi for a national assignment. In a statement dated August 7, 2025, and signed by National President Mrs. Efua Ghartey and National Secretary Kwaku Gyau Baffour, the GBA expressed “profound sorrow” over the incident, describing the deceased as “patriotic Ghanaians” who died in the line of duty. Efua Ghartey, President of Ghana Bar Association given Standing Ovation by Lawyers

At the La Beach Hotel, Accra, members of the Ghana Bar Association attending the Mid Year Conference on April 26th 2025, have given the President of the Association, Mrs Efua Ghartey a standing ovation. This was after she delivered her speech which touched on members of the Ghana Bar Association, matters affecting the Nation and matters affecting the Judiciary. On matters affecting the Bar and stressed the need for lawyers who were nominated to serve on statutory bodies to serve with integrity. Ghana Bar Association President, Efua Ghartey, raises possibility for Public Hearing in hearing on Petition to Remove Chief Justice

The President of the Ghana Bar Association, Mrs Efua Ghartey has raised the possibility for a public hearing in the hearing of the Petition to Remove the Chief Justice. She said this at the Mid Year Review Conference of the Ghana Bar Association at Accra on April 26th 2025. Efua Ghartey said that in spite of the constitutional provisions that said the proceedings should be held in camera, the current circumstances where the petition and all matters related to it were in the public domain, it may serve the country better if the matter was held in public.
