Ashaiman residents welcome cancellation of fuel allowance to government appointees
Some residents of Ashaiman have expressed support for President John Mahama’s directive to cancel fuel allowances for government appointees.
They described the move as timely and necessary in light of the country’s current economic challenges, stressing the need for policies that promote prudent economic management and equitable leadership.
In separate interviews with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Ms Gifty Ayi, a teacher, noted that the president's decision reflected a growing public demand for fiscal discipline and heightened accountability at the highest levels of governance.
“With the economy under considerable strain, it is only fair that leaders share in the sacrifices being borne by everyday citizens,” she remarked.
