The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has announced the immediate suspension of the manufacture of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, following a series of serious quality and safety violations discovered at the production facility of Nutrifoods Ghana Limited. This decisive action comes in the wake of multiple consumer complaints and a subsequent FDA investigation, which revealed lapses in the company’s manufacturing processes. The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) officials and other collaborators at the Aflao border have arrested Hawa Fuseini, a passenger on a Nagode Transport vehicle with registration number TG 5846 BN with contraband aphrodisiacs on Friday. The Nagode Bus, being driven by Babayara Rashid, was carrying the above non-compliant products loaded from Lome-Togo enroute to Accra and was uncovered at the Vehicle examination section of the Aflao Border, during a joint examination on the bus, at about 1730 hrs. Christmas Festivities: FDA cautions public against expired products, contrabands

The Central Regional office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has entreated the public to be vigilant when buying prepackaged foods in plastics, cans, bottles and boxes for the Christmas festivity. Ms Francisca Anokye, the Regional Head of FDA, said the sale of expired products and contrabands to unsuspecting consumers was common during festive seasons and for that reason people must shop cautiously. She, therefore, warned consumers to be on the lookout for expired products and those not labelled in English as they had not been approved for consumption by the Authority.
