EPA to Roll Out Nationwide Compliance Enforcement Exercises Under Environmental Protection Act, 2025

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) of Ghana has announced that it will embark on a series of Compliance Enforcement Exercises across the country to ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and sustainable development practices. The move, the EPA says, is in line with its mandate under the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124), as well as the Environmental Assessment Regulations, 1999 (LI 1652) and the Hazardous Electronic and Other Wastes (Classification), Control and Management Regulations, 2016 (LI 2250). EPA commences 2025 compliance enforcement in Tongu, Keta Areas

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR STEALING EPA VEHICLE IN TARKWA

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The vehicle, with registration number GS 1845-23, was reported stolen in the early hours of April 15, 2025, from the residence of an EPA employee at Budo City, a suburb of Tarkwa in the Western Region. The suspect, identified as Salifu Gariba, was apprehended by officers from the Northern Regional Police Command on April 16, 2025, at Kukobila, located along the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway. EPA trains stakeholders on handling, safe disposal of stranded cetaceans

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has taken significant steps to enhance the conservation of marine life, particularly cetaceans (whales and dolphins), through a collaborative approach with key stakeholders. A training programme has, therefore, been organised by the Authority for reps of various institutions to effectively address the issue of stranded or beached cetaceans and improve environmental awareness and response. Cease all mining activities in, around water bodies now -EPA cautions miners

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Tuesday issued a directive to all individuals and entities involved in illegal mining (galamsey) in and near water bodies to cease with immediate effect. The directive is in accordance with Section 2 and 3b(ii) of the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124), the EPA said in a statement signed by its acting Chief Executive Officer, Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse. The directive it said applied to all unauthorised mining activities. Hence, the EPA, Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology, Minerals Commission, Water Resources Commission and the relevant security agencies would seize equipment used in illegal mining operations in line with applicable laws.
