ECOWAS Mourns Ghana’s Loss in Helicopter Crash, Sends Message of Condolence
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic helicopter crash in Ghana that claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials, including the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
In an official statement issued from its headquarters in Abuja, ECOWAS described the news as a “huge loss” and conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government, and the people of Ghana.
The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, who signed the statement, extended sympathies on behalf of the entire ECOWAS staff and leadership. He stated:
