Cameroonian National Arrested in Major Internet Fraud and Human Trafficking Bust in Ashanti Region
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old Cameroonian woman, Bella Merie, in connection with a large-scale internet fraud and human trafficking operation. The arrest took place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Kenyasi Abrem, a community in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Ghana Police Service, Bella Merie was apprehended alongside forty-three (43) other Cameroonian nationals—thirty-two males and eleven females—who were allegedly lured into Ghana under the false promise of employment. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect collected a total of 4.5 million CFA Francs from the victims as part of the fraudulent scheme.
