Two Arrested for Transporting Suspected Stolen ECG Cables in Central Region
The Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the transportation of electricity cables believed to belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The suspects, Mohammed Sulemana and Iddrisu Basit, both driver’s mates of an articulated truck, were apprehended on April 1, 2025, at Gomoa Awombrew in the Central Region. The truck, bearing registration number GC 7410-11, was found loaded with 28 rims of ECG cables and parked in the area under suspicious circumstances.
According to ECG officials, led by their Operations Officer, Mr. David Ackom, the cables were confirmed to be the company’s property. However, no such consignment was expected in the area, raising concerns about how the materials were being transported.
