Upper East Region: 174 Junior High schools receive BSTEM equipment

A total of 174 selected Junior High Schools (JHS) across the 15 Municipal and Districts in the Upper East Region have received Basic Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (BSTEM) equipment to enhance practical teaching and learning. The equipment comprises a wide range of learning resources, from basic tools to advanced systems, including laptops for coding and programming, robotic kits, electricity and electronic sets, and solar power integration components, among others. GHS honours a Nursing Officer in Bolgatanga

The Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Upper East Region has honoured Mr Clement  Dokurugu, a Nursing Officer for his contribution to healthcare delivery in the Municipality. Mr Dokurugu, a dedicated staff at the Bolgatanga Health Centre with decades of experience in the nursing profession, rose through the ranks to the position of Nursing Officer, and was honoured with a citation of appreciation. POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR STEALING EPA VEHICLE IN TARKWA

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The vehicle, with registration number GS 1845-23, was reported stolen in the early hours of April 15, 2025, from the residence of an EPA employee at Budo City, a suburb of Tarkwa in the Western Region. The suspect, identified as Salifu Gariba, was apprehended by officers from the Northern Regional Police Command on April 16, 2025, at Kukobila, located along the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway. The stolen vehicle was successfully recovered at the time of the arrest. According to police sources, preliminary investigations are ongoing. Public sector workers in Bolgatanga react to salary increment

Some public sector workers in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region have expressed mixed feelings about the 10 per cent salary increment by the government. Government increased the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) by 10 per cent across board from January 2025 to December 2025 following successful negotiations between Labour Union and President John Dramani Mahama. The increment, which would take effect on March 1, 2025, was determined by economic conditions and cost of living. Following the announcement, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in random interviews with some public sector workers, especially in the education and health sectors, expressed mixed feelings about the increment.
