Volta Police secure 19 year jail term for armed robber in Ho

The Volta Regional Police Command has secured a major legal victory with the successful conviction and sentencing of a notorious armed robber, Paul Avortide, popularly known as “Tinted.” The 25-year-old was handed a 19-year sentence with hard labour by the Ho Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. According to police reports, the incident occurred on May 21, 2025, at around 4:00 a.m. at Tsikpota near New Housing, Ho. The convict, wielding a machete, attacked a pregnant woman identified as Ogechi Chidiebere, a Nigerian national residing in Ho, while she was en route to the Ho Municipal Hospital for antenatal care. UPPER WEST POLICE SECURE 18-YEAR CONVICTION FOR NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBER

The Upper West Regional Police Command has successfully secured the conviction of a notorious armed robber, Adinan Mahmoud, also known by the alias “Okra”, following a string of armed robbery incidents in the region. Mahmoud, 25, was arrested on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his hideout in Sandemuni, a suburb of the Wa Municipality. His apprehension came as a result of a series of intelligence-led operations spearheaded by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate. On Monday, June 2, 2025, he was arraigned before the Wa Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Jonathan Avoogo. Kumasi High Court Jails Notorious Armed Robber for 120 Years, Adds Life Sentence for Murder

The Kumasi High Court has convicted and sentenced 36-year-old Dominic Afriyie, also known as “GH,” to 120 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery, in addition to a life sentence for murder. Presided over by Justice Abdul Razak, the court found Afriyie guilty of attacking and killing pharmacist and building contractor, Michael Dela Agbo Klu, during a robbery at Atasemanso in Kumasi on November 20, 2021. The convict forcibly entered the residence of Mr. Klu and his family, stole two mobile phones, an ASUS Zenbook laptop, and GH¢1,500, before fatally shooting the 43-year-old homeowner.
