African Union Mourns Ghana Helicopter Crash Victims, Expresses Solidarity with Nation

The African Union Commission has extended its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Ghana following the tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two senior government ministers. In a statement issued from Addis Ababa, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expressed profound sorrow over the incident, which he described as a “national tragedy.” Among those who perished in the crash were Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Hon. Mahama in Addis Ababa for 38th AU Heads of States Summit

President John Dramani Mahama is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU). The President, who arrived in Addis Ababa after attending the Munich Security Conference in Germany, was met on arrival at the airport in Addis Ababa by Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister, who took the led to the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council (Ministerial Session), which was from 12th - 13th February.
