The police Wednesday morning closed down the recently opened office of a Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) group in Accra, Ghana. The five bedroom apartment, which was housing the group at Ashongman Estate was opened on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning has called on the government to shut down a new LGBT office in Accra. Accra, Kumasi take 82 per cent of medical doctors in Ghana

Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, the Health Minister-designate, has bemoaned the dearth of medical doctors in Ghana, assuring the nation of the Ministry’s commitment to train more to fill the gap. He told the Appointments Committee of Parliament during his vetting on Wednesday that of the 16 administrative regions, the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions alone took 82 per cent of the medical doctors in Ghana. ECG announces power cut in parts of Accra….Check out timetable

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released a timetable as it hints of intermittent power cut in parts of Accra. According to the outfit, the power cut is to enable a contractor to commence excavation works to interconnect the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point to the Kanda and Airport substations. ECG, in a statement, explained the works form part of its financial and operational turnaround project in collaboration with the Millenium Development Authority. The affected areas include Airport Residential Area, Mamoobi, Accra Girls, ECG Roman Ridge District office, Kotobabi Polyclinic and Alajo. Fire guts parts of Kaneshie market

A section of the Kaneshie Central Market in Accra has been gutted by a fire. The fire which started around 11 pm on Saturday evening destroyed some shops and properties. Nine shops were badly affected by a fire incident and out of the number, six shops were totally burnt while three were partially affected. No casualties have been reported from the incident. Although the cause of the fire is still unknown, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were on the scene to quench the blaze. Some traders and observers fear this may be the work of an arsonist. The government has offered to relocate the affected traders to the car park of the Accra Railway Station to ply their trade. Police motor rider crushed to death in Accra

A police motor rider with the Nima Division in Accra Sargent Justice Appiah Kubi has crushed to death around the Hajj Village bypass after being involved in a fatal accident.
