GES Launches Probe into Alleged Malpractices in 2025 BECE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it is launching a full-scale investigation into alleged examination malpractices in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This follows reports by sections of the media, particularly a JoyNews TV documentary, which suggested that some schools may have engaged in irregular practices during the examinations. WAEC releases 2025 BECE provisional results; 177 candidates have entire results cancelled

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of candidates who sat the 2025 BECE for School Candidates.The entire results of 177 candidates have been cancelled according to a press statement issued by WAEC on Saturday  [August 23] evening. The subject results of 718 candidates have also been cancelled, it said. In addition to the withholding of the entire results of 93 candidates, 1,240 candidates have had their subject results withheld. Meanwhile, the subject results of some candidates from 119 schools have been cancelled. 1,584 candidates registered for 2025 BECE in Effutu Municipality

A total of 1,584 candidates, including 806 females are expected to write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which will commence on Wednesday June 11, 2025, at five centres in Effutu Municipality. They are from 57 schools, comprising 24 public and 33 private schools in the municipality. Mr John Ntisful, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Effutu Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), told the GNA in an interview that 921 candidates are expected to write French, while   1,583 will participate in the ICT.
