Stone quarry workers in Kadjebi, located in the Oti Region of Ghana, have expressed their satisfaction with their work but highlighted significant challenges related to market access and inadequate tools.
During an interview with the GNA, Ms. Abena Mensah, who has been in the stone quarrying business for four years and Ms. Akorfa Anaglo, who has three years of experience, shared their experiences at the quarry site in Kasadjan, a suburb of Kadjebi.
One of the primary concerns raised by the workers is the difficulty in selling their produce, particularly during the rainy season.

They noted that buyers are often reluctant to purchase stone chippings during this time due to the challenges involved in transporting materials to construction sites.
This seasonal fluctuation in demand creates financial instability for the workers, who rely on consistent sales to sustain their livelihoods.
Additionally, both women reported a lack of essential working tools, such as wheelbarrows, shovels, hammers, and head pans, which impede their ability to work efficiently and safely.
Without proper equipment, their productivity is limited, making it even harder to meet market demands when opportunities arise.
The workers called for support in securing a more reliable market for their products and access to necessary tools, which would enable them to improve their operations and financial outcomes.
